Gloria T. Galinis
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister

TEWKSBURY: Gloria T. Galinis died Sunday at the age of 85. Born in Cambridge on January 23, 1928, she also lived in Athol before moving to Tewksbury in 1956.
She was the wife of the late Anthony J. "Tony" Galinis and the daughter of the late Harry and Emily Travers.
She graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin in 1946 and worked for the State of MA before moving with her husband to Athol and, ultimately, Tewksbury, where she lived for the next 57 years.
She worked for the School of Nursing at Tewksbury Hospital before her retirement. Afterwards, she became a regular participant at the Tewksbury Senior Center, where she was involved in many of their activities and charitable events. Known for being a seamstress, her talents included age old crafts such as quilting, Japanese Bunka, embroidery and other stitch related techniques. However, she was known foremost for her loving and caring self to others.
She was also a past member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club, Red Hat, and Emblem Clubs, continuing her involvement in the Tewksbury community.
Other creative type interests included ceramics with a religious theme, jewelry making, theatre and the arts, and traveling with emphasis on history.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Robert Foster of Tewksbury; a son, Paul Galinis of North Andover; two grandsons, Christopher and Joel Foster; a sister and her husband, Corrine and John Weber of Melrose; several nieces and nephews; and her family of friends at the Tewksbury Senior Center.
Gloria was the sister of the late Jesse Travers.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral is Thursday, Sept. 12, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. Should friends desire, contributions in the name of Gloria T. Galinis may be made to the Tewksbury Senior Center, 175 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876.
