Obituary

COHASSET-Dr. William C. Allard, 72 of 109 Atlantic Avenue, formerly of Worcester, died Wednesday, September 8th in Brigham & Woman’s Hospital after a long battle with heart disease. His wife Mary T. (Zofrea) Allard died in 2000. He leaves his son William J. and his wife, Libby Allard of Cohasset, and a daughter Barbara Dawidjan of Worcester and 6 grandchildren.

He was born in Bath, ME the son of William J. and Yvette Allard. Dr. Allard was a graduate of St. John’s High School, Clark University, received a Master’s Degree from Worcester State College, and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts. He retired as Superintendent of Schools in Westfield, MA. Previously he was Superintendent of Schools in Lunenburg, Principal at Exeter High School in Exeter, NH and was a teacher for many years in the Worcester Public School system. “Doc” was an avid fan of Assumption College men’s and women’s basketball teams, an avid Red Sox Fan and for the past 15 years his favorite pastime was attending all of his grandchildren’s sports activities. He belonged to many Rotary groups, and had coached his sons Little League teams.

The funeral is Monday, September 13th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, September 12th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Special Olympics of Massachusetts, 450 Maple Street, Building 1, Danvers, MA 01923-4009.
