Alberta May (Pitts) Guthrie, 91, of Upland died September 6, 2013 after an extended illness.
She was born August 18, 1922 in Joliet, Illinois to William and Ina (May) Pitts.
She served in the US Army during WW II.
She worked in extended care at Community Hospital for 12 years.
She attended the Christ Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her five children, Roberta (Don) Conero of Bath Springs , TN; Carol (Wayne) Valentine of Upland, IN; Steven (Cathy) Guthrie of Anderson, IN; Don (Sandra) Guthrie of Anderson; Bill (Lana) Guthrie of Frankton, IN; brother, Bert Pitts of Sheridan, IN; thirteen grandchildren, Kelly, Kathy, Wayne, Angela, Tiffany, Stacie, Matthew, Shasta, Riley, Megan, Haley, Alison and Audrey; several great grandchildren; in-laws, Larry (Marti) Guthrie, Betty (Richard) Leslie and Barbara Fisher; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald L. Guthrie whom she married October 17, 1952 in Shelbyville, IN and her parents; grandson, Steven Guthrie, Jr.; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Jack (Dorothy) Pitts; Ed (Sandy) Pitts and Charlene Pitts.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Gary Carstens of Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Military rites will be presented by VFW Post 266 Honor Guard following the funeral.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
Cremation will take place.
Memorial contributions may be given to Christ Lutheran Church.
