Peter J. Valinski, Sr., 80, of Worcester died Thursday, September 5th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Eileen J. (Tangney) Valinski; his children, Maryann Spillane and her husband, Robert of Worcester, Peter J. Valinski, Jr. and his wife, Sandra of Holden, Amy Valinski and her husband, Mark Allenwood of Kennebunk, ME, Beth Valinski of Kennebunk, ME and Eileen Valinski and her husband, Joseph Lareau of West Boylston; a sister, Helen Penny of Worcester; four grandchildren, Nathan Spillane, Patrick, Tyler and Kristen Valinski and a great grandchild, Collins Spillane. He was predeceased by his twin, Paul and his brother, Andrew.
Mr. Valinski was born in Worcester the son of Henry and Helen (Zokas) Valinski. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School and the post graduate program at WITI. He also attended Fitchburg State College, Worcester Junior College and the Worcester Art Museum Evening Program. Peter was an Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War. In 1953, he flew in the last B-29 mission of the Korean War.
Peter retired from a successful career as an engineering contractor. He was formerly the Chief Engineer for the Dietzco Division of Entwistle Co. in Hudson and as an Engineering Supervisor at Warner Swasey in Worcester. He was an active artist in the Worcester area and in Maine, where he enjoyed his property at Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport. Peter was a giving and devoted husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid New England sports team fan and enjoyed Guinness, red wine, golf, yard sales and eBay. He was a member of St. George Church.
His funeral is Wednesday, September 11th with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. George Church, 40 Brattle Street. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dana Farber Research Fund for the Diagnosis of Head and Neck Cancers, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.
