Obituary

Carry Oleta “Bunny” Hewlett, 70, of Fitzgerald, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at her residence.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Ms. Hewlett was born July 15, 1943, in Live Oak, Florida, to the late William Joseph “Joe” & Ruby Mae Harry Cowart. She grew up in Lutz, Florida and was a 1961 graduate of Chamberlin High School in Tampa, Florida. She attended Hillsboro Community College and Brewster Technical Institute and received her nursing degree in Tampa. Ms. Hewlett worked as an ICU nurse at South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City and was Director of Nursing for Beverly Nursing Homes in Dade City and Plant City. She was formerly active in the Garden Club, Dade City Jaycees and the Pasco Council on Aging. She moved to Fitzgerald in 1998 from Plant City and worked as a registered nurse at Life Care Center. Ms. Hewlett loved arranging flowers and making crafts and was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: David W., Jr. & Kim Hewlett of Newport News, Virginia, William Carl & Sally Hewlett of Tampa, Florida, and Carry Naylene & Steven Simons, Sr. of Plant City, Florida; 8 grandchildren: Jacqualine Naylene Simons, Ami Noelle Hewlett, Ian Wesley Hewlett, Steven Roy Simons, II, Ashley Wynn Hewlett, Benjamin Josiah Hewlett, Josie Alanna Hewlett, Joseph Douglass Simons, and ; one great-grandson: Michael John Bond; and one brother: Osben Hildreth “Buck” Cowart of Plant City, Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband: David Winstead Hewlett, Sr. and one sister: Veda Pearl Emley.
