Obituary

Mr. Robert J. Langlais 91 of Danvers, formerly of Beverly, beloved husband of 68 years to the late Denise R. (LeBrun) Langlais, died August 31 surrounded by members of his family.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Arthur and Antoinette (Simard) Langlais. He was raised and educated in Salem.
Mr. Langlais had been employed with Sylvania at its Boston Street plant in Salem where he met the love of his life, Denise. After serving in the Navy during WWII as a Torpedoman’s Mate, 1st Class, Robert returned to Salem and wed Denise.
They moved to Beverly in the mid-1950’s where they devoted their love and energy to raising their family. Robert belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was an active member of the community and a communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea church. Mr. Langlais was a Quality Control specialist at Sylvania, Metcom, and lastly at Wang Laboratories at the time of his retirement.
More recently, Robert moved to Danvers and had been an active member of the Danvers Senior Center and communicant of St. Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be deeply missed.
Robert is survived by his brother, Richard, sons Philip Langlais and his wife Susan of Norfolk, Virginia, Richard Langlais and his wife Karen of Ipswich, Robert Langlais and his partner Robert Stewart of Sarasota, Florida, and Michael Langlais and his wife Yuka of Danvers, his eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from C.R. Lyons & sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square, Saturday Sept. 7th, At 8:15 A.M. followed by his funeral mass in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers at 9 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Friday, Sept. 6th from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be made in Robert’s memory to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., B102, Danvers, MA 01923.
