Naomi Pearl (Brundage) Read, 87, of Auburn, died suddenly at her home on Sunday, September 1, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Robert W. Read Sr. who died in 2007.
Born in Cambridge on August 14, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Gilmour and Luty (Mitchell) Brundage. Mrs. Read was a resident of Auburn for the past year and formerly resided in Townsend and Gardner.
She was a graduate of Medway High School and the former Burdett School of Business in Boston.
Before her retirement, she worked at the former Cushing Hospital in Framingham for many years.
Mrs. Read was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Rosalie Rebekah Lodge in Medway. She was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed doing puzzles and playing on her computer. She also loved socializing with her friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia J. Read and Karen Bernhardt of Ashby and Janice Read Nowicki and her husband Stephen of Auburn, a son Robert W. Read Jr. and his wife Susan of Danvers, five grandchildren, Louis Capozzi and his wife Courtney, Matthew Capozzi and his wife Jenna, Allison Read, Michael Nowicki and his wife Alison and Daniel Nowicki, three great-grandchildren and a brother Gilmour Brundage Jr. of Buxton, ME.
She was the sister of the late James and Edwin Brundage.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Friday, September 6 at 11a.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery in Medway at a later date.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 – 8 p.m.
