Obituary

Anthony "Tony" McGinley, 59 of 12 Thayer Street died Saturday Sept. 4 in Umass Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with adult leukemia. He leaves his devoted wife and best friend of 23 years, Denise (Miller) McGinley. In addition to his wife, he leaves his sisters and brothers through marriage, Debra A. Miller who lived with Tony and his wife. Kathleen E. Renaud, wife of Joseph Renaud, Michele F. Koller, wife of Steven Koller, Shawn M. Degnan and his wife Lori Degan, all of Worcester and Andrea Peloquin of Spencer. He leaves several aunts and uncles, both in the United States and Ireland. He also leaves two special friends, an aunt and uncle, Marion and James Seery of Sutton, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Tony was born in County Kildare, Ireland son of the late Hugh and Mary (O'Loughlin) McGinley. He lived in Lifford, County Donegal, Ireland until he immigrated to the United States at age 19. He served in the United States Army Corp during the Vietnam Conflict Era and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army with expert marksman honors. Tony became a United States citizen in 1966. He attended and graduated from both Quinsigamond Community College and Worcester State College. He worked for many years at the former Table Talk Pie until it closed. He worked for the City of Worcester Code Inspection Department for 18 years as a Principal Inspector, retiring recently due to his illness. Tony enjoyed time with his family, world politics and political debates. He was interested in the stock market, reading, horse and dog racing, music and gardening. Tony was much loved and will be sadly missed by friends and family. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 9 in MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Wednesday,Sept. 8 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
