Jessica C. Thurston, 29, of East Bridgewater, passed away Friday August 30th at home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous 2 year battle with breast cancer. She fought bravely to the very end. Jessica was the daughter of Arthur and Christine (McCarthy) Thurston of East Bridgewater.
She was born in Brockton, brought up in East Bridgewater, a graduate of East Bridgewater High School, class of 2002. Jessica also was a graduate of Bridgewater State College with a degree in Psychology, class of 2007.
Jessica worked at the State Street Bank and Trust in North Quincy until she was unable to work due to her sickness and previously she worked at the Bridgewater Savings Bank.
She had a bright spirit about her and dealt with her diagnosis with a very positive attitude. She enjoyed running and had been a co-captain of her high school track team. She proudly completed the Providence half marathon in the spring of 2011 before her diagnosis. Jessica also enjoyed spending time with her friends, listening to country music, vacationing in the Caribbean and visiting the island of Nantucket. Her motto was to live life.
In addition to her parents, Arthur and Christine, she is survived by her sister Kara Thurston of East Bridgewater, her uncle and aunts, James and Patricia McCarthy of East Wareham, Barbara Precourt of Woonsocket, RI, her grandmother Elizabeth (Riddle) Thurston of Raynham, also her cousins Kimberly and Katie McCarthy of East Wareham, James, Michelle, Jared and Joshua Precourt, many close friends and her beloved dog Cisco. She was the granddaughter of the late Sydney Thurston and Paul and Christine (Chisholm) McCarthy.
Her funeral services will be held on Thursday September 5th at 9:00AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St., (Rte 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00AM in the St. John Church, Central St., East Bridgewater. Burial will follow in the Central Cemetery East Bridgewater. Her Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 4th from 4:00-8:00PM.
