Obituary

Winfred Fowler, 84, of Ben Hill County, died Saturday, August 31, 2013, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Monday, September 2, 2013, at Young Cemetery, Ben Hill County, with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Fowler was born August 15, 1929, in Ben Hill County, to the late Thomas Arnold & Kathleen Griffin Fowler. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War Era. He was a longtime farmer and lifetime resident of Ben Hill County, except for his tour of duty. He loved to fish and to hunt and enjoyed growing his garden during his retirement years. Mr. Fowler was known to share his vegetables with friends and neighbors. He was a member of Rebecca Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Mildred Fowler of Ben Hill County; one daughter: Ginger & Dennie Reeves of Lenox; three sons: Gary & Beth Fowler, Kyle & Elaine Fowler, and Kelly Fowler, all of Ben Hill County; three granddaughters: Suzanne Williamson, Kristen Wiggins, and Kaylyn Fowler; three grandsons: Brandon Fowler, Jeremy Fowler, and Dustin Fowler; four great-grandchildren; one sister: Virginia Johnson of Fitzgerald; and two brothers: Emory Fowler of Rebecca and Jerry Fowler of Shingler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Tracy Kim Fowler.
