Obituary

ACTON: Jane Anne (Hibbert) Gruber, 61 died peacefully surrounded by her family at her residence following a courageous and dignified battle with Multiple Myeloma on Friday, August 30, 2013.

She was born in Stoneham on October 15, 1951, the daughter of the late Tom Hibbert and Evelyn Hilda (Thistle) Hibbert.

Jane was the loving mother of Jessica M. Gruber-Ramos of Bronx, NY and Allison H. Gruber Moscicki of Belchertown, MA. Grandmother of Jeremy Gruber-Ramos of Bronx, NY. Also survived by her longtime partner Kevin Pendergast of Acton and her brother Alan Hibbert of Yarmouth.

Jane spent her earlier years in Wayland and was a graduate of Wayland High School with the Class of 1969. She has resided in Acton for the past 32 years. Jane held a Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree and was the Director of Rehabilitation Services at Newton-Wellesley Hospital for the past 37 years. She was a member of the Excel Synchronized Skating Team and the U.S. Figure Skating Association. Jane was very much loved and touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

At the request of her family there will be no funeral home visitations.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, September 2, 2013 at 11:00AM at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, 435 Central Street, Acton, MA.

Internment will be held in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland at a later date.

In lieu of flowers her family suggests that memorial gift in Jane’s memory be sent to The Jerome Lipper Multiple Myeloma Center at Dana Farber Cancer Institute 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215 would be greatly appreciated by her family.
