Wayne R. Irwin, 71, of New Bedford died Friday August 30, 2013 at home after a long illness. He was the husband of Marcelle G. (Cormier) Irwin.
Born in Auburn, New York, the son of the late Rosamond (Cory) Miller and Haldane Irwin, he lived in New Bedford and Acushnet for most of his life.
Mr. Irwin was formerly employed as a press operator at Titleist until his retirement.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Alicia Gonsalves and her husband Anthony and Sherry Ewaszko and her husband Leo, all of Dartmouth, Jennifer Irwin of Acushnet, and Linda Irwin of New Bedford; a brother Douglas Irwin and his wife Kathy of Texas; six granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Andrew Irwin.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 1-5 PM in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Thomas E. Tuttle Post 7239, 28 Roosevelt St., Acushnet, MA. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Rd. #400,, Waltham, MA 02451. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
