Obituary

CHICOPEE – Joyce A. (Mireault) Kryla, 77, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, August 29, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on November 11, 1935, a beloved daughter of the late Donat and Rose (Crevier) Mireault. She was raised in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, attended Chicopee High School and was a lifelong resident of Aldenville. As a teenager, she was employed at the former W. T. Grant Company where she dressed in a cowgirl outfit, and for a mere 5 cents, she assisted young children who were delighted with a ride on a mechanical horse. During her early work years, she was employed at the former National Blank Book Company in Holyoke. As her family grew, she became a stay at home mom to raise her three children. As her children grew and started high school, Joyce went to work in the Golf Ball Division at the former A. G. Spalding Company in Chicopee. During her leisure time, Joyce enjoyed bowling, softball and traveling each year to California with her late husband, Joe, to visit their loving sons and family. Her favorite past time each year was to plant a gigantic vegetable garden at her home, which she shared the bounty of with her family and her many neighbors and friends. Under her watchful eye as her health declined over the past few years, Joyce was still able to enjoy her wonderful vegetable garden with the help of her loving daughter, Karen. She was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was a former communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Joseph M. Kryla who was Called Home on June 17, 2013. They were married at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville and were blessed with nearly 58 years of happiness together. She leaves her three loving children, Mark J. Kryla and his wife, Carolyn, of Corona, CA, Karen L. Kryla Gordon and her husband, Robert Gordon, of Westfield, and Richard M. Kryla of Wildomar, CA; her four cherished grandchildren who affectionately called her “Memere”, Katherine E. and Michael J. Kryla, and Noah C. and Skye K. Gordon; her dear brother, Kenneth Mireault and his wife, Mary, of Amherst; her dear sister, Lorraine Parent of Ludlow; and her many dear nephews, nieces and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her dear brother and sister-in-law, Rodney Mireault and his wife, Carole; and her dear brother-in-law, Robert Parent.
