Whitman – Bruce A. Waugh 77, a longtime resident of Whitman, died Thursday August 29 after a brave battle against Parkinson Disease. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Priscilla A. (Mattson) Waugh.

Born and raised in Hingham he was the son of the late Harold Waugh and the late Marion (Loud) (Waugh) Cameron, and a graduate of Hingham High School. He had furthered his education attending Bridgewater State College.

Prior to his years with the town he had worked for over 28 years at the Pneumatic Scale Corporation of Quincy.

He devoted countless hours to the activities of his children. He had been a Little League Baseball coach and a Cub Master of Cub Scout Troop #27. He had also been a dedicated supporter of the Defenders Drum & Bugle Corp. volunteering several times as a chaperone for their many travels, and serving as President of the Defenders’ Booster Club.

He enjoyed his many travels to Bermuda and to Fort Meyers for Red Sox spring training, but his greatest joy was following the many sporting events and activities of his grandchildren, all of which he had his own “special” name for.

In addition to his wife Priscilla, he is survived by his loving children, Christopher Waugh and his wife Cathy of East Wareham, David Waugh and his partner Ron Pettit of Florida and Melissa Gelinas and her husband Christopher of Waltham.
