Obituary

Joseph Phillips, 67, beloved father and man of strong moral character, passed peacefully to his eternal life on August 27, 2013 at West Roxbury VA Hospital. Joseph Phillips proudly served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He owned a trucking company and enjoyed long distance driving until his retirement.
He is predeceased by his parents Horace and Lucille Phillips. Joseph was lovingly referred to as “Joey”by his dear aunts who cared for him throughout his life: Darnell Bowie and the late Artharine Cook. His aunt, Amy Barton, was also very dear to him. He is survived by his son Joseph Phillips Jr. (wife Veronica), son of Ethel Mae Phillips. His legacy also includes two daughters Marie Collins and Phyllis Johnson, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He leaves to cherish several close cousins and a host of other relatives.


Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joseph’s life at a memorial service on Saturday, August 31 at 2pm at Lawler and Crosby Chapel, 1803 Centre Street, West Roxbury.
