George William Jones, 67, of Ty Ty died Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Joseph L. Crumley will officiate with a private burial to be held at a later date. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 29, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Jones was born on February 8, 1946 in Saint Petersburg, Florida and was the son of Herschel Jones and Katherine Rogers Jones, both deceased. He worked at the Colonial Food Store and Big Star Foods and retired from Keebler Cookie Company and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. He loved to fish and watch horrible, reality TV programs. He also loved to play guitar and was very talented on all instruments and collected stereo records. He was also a United States Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Debra Chambless Jones of Ty Ty; his children and their families, Brad Jones of Ty Ty, Chris and Laura Jones and son Tucker of Lawrenceville, Beth and Trey Green and children, Gavin Lee, Jon-William Lee, Caroline Green and Kade Green of Leesburg, and Chad Jones and son, Zachary Jones of Phenix City, Alabama; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Laferrell and MaryAlice Salter of Ty Ty; his sister-in-law, Shara Salter Dunn and husband Dennis of Six Mile, South Carolina; brothers-in-law and their wives, Jeffrey and Lorie Salter of Putney, Monty and Shae Salter of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Buddy and Debbie Salter of Clover, South Carolina, Michael and Charlene Salter of Ty Ty, Dale Chambless of Ty Ty, Randy and Cheryl Chambless of Ty Ty and Ray and Kim Salter of Carrollton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
