Obituary

Rose M. (McCabe) Lyman, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at the Courtyard Nursing Home in Medford following an extended illness. She was 97 years old.

Rose was born in Boston on March 3, 1916, a daughter of the late Joseph McCabe and Mary (Haggerty) McCabe. She grew up in Charlestown and was educated in the Boston Public School system where she graduated from Charlestown High School in 1933. Rose has been a homemaker most of her adult life and took pride in taking care of her husband and 3 children. She has been an active member of St. Francis De Sales Church in Charlestown for many years and was a member of the choir and social club. She was a lifetime member of The Daughters of Isabella # 1 and a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association.

Rose is the beloved wife of the late Richard F. "Dick" Lyman. She is the devoted mother of Richard F. Lyman Jr. and his wife Debbie of Charlestown, Roseanne Sheehan and her husband Daniel of Charlestown and Catherine Ellis and her husband Jim of Milford. She is the loving Nana to 5 grandchildren and Grandnana to 2 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of the late Helen Burhoe, Dorothy O'Toole, Ruth Muzzrole, Mary Walsh, Charles, John, Francis, Joseph, Bernard and Cornelius McCabe. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rose's Funeral on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
