Esther M. (Nordstrom) Thompson, 84, a resident of Tatnuck Park at Worcester, went to eternal rest on August 27, 2013, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Her husband of 44 years, Donald W. Thompson, died in 1998. Esther leaves her three sons, Eric H. (Kathleen) of Jefferson; Roy S. (Julie) of Lyndeboro, NH; and Craig H. Thompson of Charlton; seven grandchildren, Travis, Andrew, Carl, Tiffany, Deanna, Ryan, and Johanna Thompson; three brothers, Helge (Helen) Nordstrom of Shrewsbury, Robert (Alice) Nordstrom of Millbury, and Carl (Carol) Nordstrom of Charlton; three sisters, Alice U. Nordstrom, Hulda Peloquin, and Ethel Swedberg - all of Worcester. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Ruth Nordstrom of Charlton. Her brother, Hilding Nordstrom died in 2006.
Esther was born and raised in Worcester, a daughter of the late Edith C. (Westlund) and Carl J. Nordstrom. Esther graduated from Commerce High School. After she and Donald married, they moved to Shrewsbury where she resided for over 50 years. She was employed by the former Reed & Prince Manufacturing Co., as a secretary before staying at home to raise her children. She was later employed by Nordstrom Associates as a secretary until her retirement. Esther was a member of Bethlehem Covenant Church in Worcester. She was very active in her church community. She loved baking and was known for her spritz and pepparkakor cookies that she made at Christmas time.
A Funeral Service will be held at Bethlehem Covenant Church Friday, August 30, at 11:30 a.m. Burial in All Faiths Cemetery will be private at a later date.
