Providence, RI - Alvaro J. Pimentel, 71, of New Bedford passed away August 24, 2013 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Idalina F. (Fontes) Pimentel.
Mr. Pimentel was born in Terceira, Azores, son of the late Alvaro and Ana (DaSilva) Pimentel, and resided in New Bedford for the past 40 years. He was a member of Luzo American Assembly of God. He was employed as a machine operator by Acushnet Company until retiring due to disability. He enjoyed watching soccer, fishing and gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Ana Jardin and her husband, David; Marco Pimentel and his fiancée, Stephanie Scott; Lucy Pimentel and her husband, David Gaipo; Priscilla McHale and her husband, Robert, Jr.; and Patrick Pimentel and his fiancée, Michele Perreira; 5 grandchildren: Marco Pimentel, Mason Pimentel, Robert McHale, Savanah Mendes and Alexandra Mendes; 1 niece; 1 nephew; and 1 great niece.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jaime Pimentel.

Funeral services at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the funeral home.
