Obituary

Robert E. Ready, 81, of Medway, died August 25 in the Medway Country Manor.
Born in Lowell, May 10, 1932, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Cavanaugh) Ready. Mr. Ready was raised in Lowell and had lived in Medway since 1977.
An outstanding athlete Mr. Ready was three –sport- star at Lowell High School.
He played football, baseball and basketball.
After graduation from Lowell High School he went on to play football at the famed Notre Dame University.
Playing under Frank Leahy as a defensive tackle he was on the National co-Championship team of 1953.
He was drafted by the Washington Redskins but due to serving in the Air Force he never got the opportunity to play in the National Football League.
Mr. Ready was a life insurance salesman for most of his life.
A sports enthusiast he umpired High School baseball games and referee High School football games.
He always followed the Notre Dame Football team and their accomplishments for the rest of his life.
Bob had been a lector at St. Joseph Church in Medway for many years.
He served in the Air Force during the Mid 150’s attaining the rank of Lieutenant First Class.
He is survived by his children Alicia Bolze and her husband Steve of Hingham, Ann Marie French and her husband Brian of Norfolk, Michael Ready and his wife Jenna of Franklin and Jennifer Kelleher and her husband Michael of Gansevoort, New York.
He is also survived by his sister Joanne Rowan of North Andover and was the brother of the late Joseph, Roger and Jack Ready.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and his dear friend Ann Vizzari of Medway.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday August 28 in St. Joseph Church at 10:00.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 8:30-9:30 in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street Medway.
