Obituary

William A. “Bill” Tierney age 60 of South Easton died Friday August 23, 2013 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Lorraine A. (Samson) (Breen) Tierney. Bill was born and raised in Brockton a son of the late John and Loretta (Serlenga) Tierney and lived most of his life in Brockton before moving to South Easton over 10 years ago. A 1972 graduate of Brockton High School, Bill served in the US Army in the late 1970s and continued his service in the Massachusetts National Guard.

Until his illness, Bill was a driver with UPS for over 15 years. In his free time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, working in his yard and golf. He loved taking vacations close to Army bases so that he could visit and check out their PX. Although he was always a jokster with his family and friends, he would be the first to help anyone in need. Bill’s true joy in his life was his family, especially spending time with his children.

Bill was the devoted father of Martina Tierney, Yvonne Tierney and Michael Tierney and step father of Candace Boone and her husband Ryan, Joseph Breen and Charles Breen and his wife Shannon. He was the brother of Barbara Olivieri and her husband John and John Tierney and his wife Vanessa. He leaves six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday 4-8 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9 am for a Funeral Mass in Holy Cross Church in South Easton at 10 am.
