Obituary

WEBSTER – William M. “Hop” Jarosz, 89, of 9 Ash Street, died Thursday, September 2, in UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester.

He leaves close friends and companions, Catherine Mahan and Stephen Koziak.

He was born in Webster, a son of Michael and Anna (Seraphin) Jarosz, and was a lifelong resident.

Mr. Jarosz was self-employed as a carpenter for many years retiring in 1969.

He was a member of Saint Louis Church. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in Sicily, Naples, Rome, Southern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the Purple Heart, and 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. Mr. Jarosz was a driver, delivering food, ammunition and military supplies to companies in the field while under enemy fire. He also received the Good Conduct Medal, the Bronze Service Arrow, Bronze Star and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He enjoyed sports, particularly baseball and fishing.

At his request, a graveside service will be held. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Louis School Endowment Fund, 15 Lake Street, Webster, MA 01570
