Edward J. Lewis, 69, of Derry, NH passed away, Monday, August 19, 2013, at the Parkland Medical Center, Derry surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 23, 1944 in Cambridge, MA a son of the late Harold and Hattie (Forsythe) Lewis. Edward was raised in Arlington, MA and moved to Derry in 1969. He proudly served his country in the US Army and met his wife while serving in Germany. Mr. Lewis worked in IT for the State of NH DMV for over 10 years. He enjoyed playing Santa at various locations. He enjoyed NASCAR, traveling and collecting HO Model trains.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandy Carchide and her husband John of Derry and Heidi Lewis and her fiancé Gerald French of Manchester; one grandchild, Shelly Baker of Derry, one sister, Joanne Dawson of Hooksett and his beloved Papillon “Killer”. He was predeceased by his wife Gertrud “Trudy” Lewis in 2009 and by one brother Robert Lewis.
There are no calling hours. A memorial reception will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2013, from 5 to 7pm, upstairs at the Halcyon Club, 11 Central St., in Derry. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is assisting the family with arrangements.
