Obituary

Dr. Robert S. Fitch, 82, passed away on August 19, 2013. He was born on
July 11, 1931 in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from Louisville Male High School
with the class of 1949. He was an active member of the Male High School 50-Year
Club. Actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

He attended Centre College in Danville, Kentucky and graduated from Baylor University with a doctorate degree in psychology.
Over the course of his career, he was employed with Gardner-Denver Steel, GAF Corporation,
Gates Learjet, Brown-Mackie College (Salina, Kansas), and Adams County
Schools in Colorado. Upon retirement, Fitch relocated to Carrollton,
Kentucky and served as science teacher for the Christian Academy of Carrollton and also
for Oldham County Christian Academy in LaGrange, Kentucky. Fitch was a member of
St. James’ Episcopal Church in Pewee Valley, where he served as Eucharistic minister
and two terms as Vestry member. Fitch was a member of the Anglican Catholic Faith. Since
September 2011, Dr. Fitch was a resident of the Louisville Masonic Home.

Fitch was a US Army and Air Force Veteran of the Korean conflict serving in Austria
and Germany.

Dr. Fitch was a life member of Central City Elks Lodge, a member of Carrollton Masonic
Lodge #134, and a member of the Carrollton Order of Eastern Star.

Dr. Fitch was preceded in death by his parents, Elisha Schwartz Fitch and Sara Mount
Fitch. Fitch is survived by his daughter, Laura Denise Duvall, two granddaughters, Nicole Charise Duvall
and Renee Michelle Duvall, and two very best friends, Julia Ann Beard and Mary Lou Fitch-Findling.
Interment will be at the cemetery at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Pewee Valley.

Dr. Fitch’s Funeral service will be Saturday, August 24, 2013 at St. James’ Episcopal Church,
401 LaGrange Road, Pewee Valley (at the corner of Maple Avenue). Burial will be private.
Visitation will be Friday from 3-8 p.m. at St. James’ Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to Christian Academy of Carrollton, KY and St. James’ Episcopal Church.
