Obituary

Clement M. Giard, 89 of Bear Ill Rd., died Saturday at Mt St. Rita Health Center. He was the husband of Muriel (Brousseau) Giard with whom he had been married for sixty two years. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Clement A. and Bertha (Maurice-Chaput) Giard. He served in the US Army during WWII. Clem was a driver and salesman for Peter Pan Ice Cream for twenty six years retiring in 1985. He was a lifetime member of the St. Joseph Veterans Association, a member of the AMVETS Post #13, VFW Post #6342 and the St. Joseph Senior Citizens.

Besides his wife he leaves a brother Normand R. Giard of Pascoag, three nephews, Richard Forget and his wife Muriel of N. Smithfield, Robert Giard of Naples, FL, and Donald Giard and his wife Marie of Woonsocket, and a niece Lorraine Charrette and her husband Normand of The Villages, FL. He was also the brother-in-law of the late Dorothy Giard.

His funeral will be held Thursday at 9:30 AM, from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd. Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Precious Blood Cemetery in Woonsocket. Visiting Hours are Wednesday 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to Mt St. Rita Heath Centre, 15 Sumner Brown Rd., Cumberland, RI 02864 or Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904-9826 in his memory would be appreciated.
