Dorothy M. (Hanecak) Kwiecien, age 89, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born on March 24, 1924 in Holyoke. She attended Holyoke Public Schools and left school to become a domestic for former school superintendent Dr. William Peck. She was married August 1, 1942 to Alfred Kwiecien. She worked at Electric Game Company and then National Blank Book for 16 years before she retired in 1989. She had a deep love for taking care and "puttering" around her beautiful property which she and her husband purchased and built on Ruskin Street and where she lived for 58 years. She is predeceased by her husband Alfred Kwiecien who passed away in 1971 and by her beloved son Mark Kwiecien who passed away in 2011. She was a former communicant of St. Stanislaus Basilica Bishop and Martyr. She leaves her loving daughter Dorothy Kwiecien-Kagan and her husband Richard of Chicopee; four grandchildren, Richard Kagan and his wife Yeva, Heidi Kane and her husband Tim, Todd Kagan and his wife Cathy and Harley Kagan and his wife Marylou and 10 beloved great grandchildren whom she was so proud of, Nataliya Lozko, Tyler and Troy Kane, Harley, Zane, Cameron, Aleksandra, Oksana, Travis and Calvin Kagan. Calling hours will be held on the morning of the funeral, Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee with a Funeral Service starting at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St Stanislaus Cemetery.
