Eleanor Leverette Evans, age 86, died Friday, August 16, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born April 29, 1927 in Duck Hill, MS to the late James Clifford and Lena Heath Leverette. Eleanor was a member of First Baptist Church of Water Valley, MS and worked there for many years as a secretary. She was later employed as a teller at Mechanics Bank of Water Valley until her retirement. She dedicated most of her life to caring for her invalid daughter, Lee Ellen Evans until her death in 2003. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, but her world revolved around her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1:30 pm until 3:30 pm on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 3:30 pm on Sunday, August 18, 2013 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks, with Dr. Randy Bain officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley with Jesse Leverette, Sid Leverette, Cliff Leverette, Lane Leverette, Eddy Creekmore, and Larry Evans serving as pallbearers. Tommy White and Roy Bennett Stevens will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Dr. Frank Evans, Jr. and his wife, Sherry of Calhoun City, MS; three sisters, Jeanine Bradshaw of Jackson, MS, JoAnn Finn of Memphis, TN and Betty Minton of Rutherford, TN; her brother, Jesse Leverette of Madison, MS; three grandchildren, Larry Howell Evans, Jennifer Leigh Evans Chandler and Taylor Brooke Evans; and two great grandchildren, Carson Creekmore and Peyton Chandler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Evans, Sr.; her daughter, Lee Ellen Evans; and her son, Larry Leverette Evans.
