Mrs. Harriett C. “Dolly” (DaRosa) Leonard, of Taunton, died Friday, August 16 in the New England Sinai Hospital, Stoughton following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Charles I. Leonard. Born 79 years ago in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Joaquin and Harriett V. (Dyer) DaRosa. She was educated in Taunton and had been a city resident for most of her life. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as Office Manager for the Leonard Construction Company for 25 years. Harriett was a Lioness with the Raynham Lions Club and member of the former St. Joseph’s Grammar School Mothers Club. She was an avid crossword puzzler, enjoyed knitting and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton and had attended the former St. Joseph’s Church in Taunton where she was a member of the Women’s and Daughter’s Guild.
In addition to her husband, she leaves: 3 sons: Charles S. Leonard of New Bedford, Jeffrey J. Leonard and his wife, Lisa of Plymouth, and Michael E. Leonard and his wife, Paula of Taunton; 1 daughter: Linda M. Lamoureaux and her husband, Bob of Florida; 1 sister: Lillian Murphy of Taunton, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Harriett was also the grandmother of the late Kristie Lamoureaux, and the sister of the late Eugene and John DaRosa, Eleanor Rosenberg, Carol Smith, and Katherine Amaral.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Monday, August 19 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery (Annex). Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Expressions of sympathy in Harriett’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
