Obituary

Rockland – Barbara M. (O’Malley) Feinstein 77, a longtime resident of Rockland, died Wednesday August 14, surrounded by her loving family, after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to Michael J. Feinstein.

Born in Charlestown and raised in Dorchester, one of 10 children, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Monagle) O’Malley and a graduate of Archbishop Cushing High School in South Boston.

For over 38 years Barbara had been a resident of Rockland where she along with her husband Michael had raised their 8 children.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and her greatest joy came from the time spent with her large family surrounding her, and following the many activities of her 8 children and 13 grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Michael she is survived by her loving children Michael Feinstein of Rockland, Barbara Sargent and her husband Scott of Rogers, AR, Peter Feinstein and his wife Jacquelyn of Plymouth, Paul Feinstein and his wife Brenda of Rockland, Mary Murrill and her husband Mark of Lumberton, TX, Brian Feinstein and his wife Dawn of Hanover, Teresa Kimball and her husband Dan of Rockland, and Ann Marie Feinstein of Hanover, her siblings Peter O’Malley and his wife Mary of Concord, Teresa Fernberg and her husband Richard of Groton, Patricia Flanagan and her husband Joseph of Dorchester, and Susan McLaughlin and her husband Thomas of Quincy. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John O’Malley, Mary Toole, Rose Toole, Catherine Conlan and Ann O’Malley.

Her services will be held Saturday August 17 at 10 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 11 AM in St. Mary’s Church, Hanover. Burial will follow in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Visiting hours will be held Friday August 16 from 4-8 PM.
