Obituary

Albert A. Grundy, 90, of Westport, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Clifton Rehabilitative Nursing Center in Somerset. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth B. “Betty” (Morrison) Grundy, they were married for 70 years.
Born in Westport, son of the late Elmer and Elizabeth B. (Pettey) Grundy, he was a lifelong resident of the town. Al was a WWII veteran serving his country in the U.S. Army. He and Betty were the owners & operators of Grundy’s Lumber Supply of Westport, building it into a successful business until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of Noquochoke Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Westport for over 50 years. He was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family and his “Breakfast Club”.
Survivors include his daughter: Sharon L. Martori and her husband Ralph of Westport; his sister: Florence Lees of Westport; his grandson: Richard Martori and his wife Robin of Westport; his 2 granddaughters: Rhonda Pereira and her husband John and Julie Stahley and her husband David all of Westport; 2 great grandsons: John R. Pereira II and his fiancé Mandi Babin and Nikolai Stahley all of Westport; his great great granddaughter: Aylah Pereira; 2 sisters-in-law: Gladys Grundy and Harriet Boiley and her husband Norman and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Raymond E. Grundy and Walter E. Grundy.
Arrangements are private.
