Eileen K. (Friend) Downey, 76, of Hudson, died on Thursday, Aug. 8th at UMASS Memorial Healthcare, University Campus in Worcester. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Lawrence C. Downey of Hudson.
Eileen was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Carney) Friend. She attended local schools and was a graduate of the Worcester Girls Trade School. Eileen took great pride in the care of her home and raising her daughters in Hudson where she has resided since 1962. She cherished and always looked forward to spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting in her spare time.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mary West and her husband William of Barry, Jeanine Rinoldo and her husband Anthony of Marlboro and was predeceased by her infant daughter Ann Marie Downey. She is also survived by her two loving grandchildren, Lindsay and Amber West and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service and celebration of Eileen’s life attended by family members was held privately in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial followed in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson.
