Richard R. Guilbeault, Sr., 63, of New Bedford died August 7, 2013 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Henry and Ludivena (Major) Guilbeault, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and served as an altar boy in his youth.
Mr. Guilbeault was formerly employed as a construction worker for many years until his retirement.
He was an avid reader, astronomer, fisherman, boater and horticulturist.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Helen Botelho and their 6 children, Lisa Guilbeault, Denise Guilbeault, Richard R. Guilbeault, Jr., Charleen Ferland, Chad Taylor and Leslie Young; his siblings, Jean Guilbeault, Henry Guilbeault, Jr. and Jacqueline Brisson; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 24th at 12 Noon at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. His family will receive guests from 10:30 AM - 12 Noon prior to his service.
