Mary L. Riel,92 of Towanda Drive, died Sunday, August 11, 2013, at the home of her daughter. She was the wife of the late Albert V. Riel.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Cummiskey) Higgins. She had lived in North Providence for over 50 years.
She was a clerk for the US Postal Service at the Turnkey office before retiring. She was a graduate of Hope High School, a member of the former St. Ann’s Sodality and had been a communicant of St. Lawrence Church for most her life.
She is survived by her children, James A Riel and his wife, Linda Waters of Lunenburg, MA, Genie A. DelSesto and her husband, Skip, of Glocester, Marianne Riel of Burrillville and Margaret U. Riel and her husband, Michael Altomari of New Hope, PA, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was the mother in law of the late Thomas Geanacou and sister of the late Anna R. Brett, Harriet Doyle, Claire Masse, Agnes Sharrocks, Margaret Gabel and Wilfred and James Higgins.
Funeral Friday at 8:30AM from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Avenue, Greenville, RI 02828. Burial in RI Veterans Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 4-7PM.
