WORCESTER-Katherine R. (Fox) Mara, 90, of 300 Barber Avenue, formerly of 39 Stoneleigh Road, died Friday, September 3rd in UMass Memorial Hospital. Her husband J. Joseph Mara died in 1984. She leaves a step daughter, Virginia O’Malley of Dennis, 7 grandchildren, including Margaret Flannery-Rossi, Patricia Flannery and James J. Flannery, all of Worcester and Jane Edwards of Holden and 7 great grandchildren. A daughter Elizabeth M. Sheridan, a brother, Thomas Fox, Jr. and 2 sisters, Margaret and Mary Fox predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Morrissey) Fox and graduated from Commerce High School. Mrs. Mara was a bookkeeper at W.M. Steele, Company for many years. She was an avid reader.
The funeral is Tuesday, September 7th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 the morning of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 72 Cambridge Street, Worcester, MA 01603.
