TAUNTON – Martha “Jeanette" (Rose) Jacques, wife of the late Henry E. Jacques, died at her Taunton home surrounded by family and friends on July 27, 2013.
She was 88.
She was born in Rehoboth and was the daughter of the late Manuel and Martha (Daley) Rose and graduated in 1943 from Joseph Case High School in Swansea.
Mrs. Jacques moved to Taunton in 1947 and was employed as a bookkeeper by the former DeSilvia Electric Co. for nearly thirty years before retiring in 1985.
Earlier, she had worked as a telephone operator for the former Bell Telephone Co.
Mrs. Jacques was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and enjoyed gardening, yard work, spectator sports and going for drives.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Paul H. Jacques of Taunton; a brother, Robert Rose of Rehoboth; a sister, Evelyn Bois of Rehoboth; sisters-in-law, Constance Rose of Swansea, Adele Rose of Dighton, and Alice Rose of Rehoboth; and several nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Lester, Clinton and Henry Rose; and the late Dorothy Borges.
A funeral mass was celebrated earlier this week at St. Mary’s Church in Taunton.
Burial followed at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Somerset.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Village Plaza South, 473 South St. West, Unit 13, Raynham, MA 02767.
Arrangements were handled by the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway at St. Mary’s Square in Taunton.
