Obituary

Felix R. “Phil” Lessard, 90, of Manchester, died on August 9, 2013 at Hyder Hospice House in Dover after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Canada on October 23, 1922, the son of Stanislas and Roseanna (Vanasse) Lessard. Felix graduated from Central High School and attended Hesser College, where he studied Accounting. He worked for many years, for the City of Manchester, as a custodian/supervisor, retiring in 1989.
Felix served in the US Army from January 1943 to February 1946, stationed at New Guinea. He was a member of Post 79 American Legion, where he served as treasurer and was also a member of Legion of One Thousand Men of the Monastery of the Precious Blood.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid Detroit Tiger and Lions fan.
Felix leaves his loving wife of 63 years,Gertrude (Saindon) Lessard, of Manchester; daughter Judy Desrochers and husband Gerry, of Hampton; four grandchildren, Kim Coomey, husband Bill and their children Liam, Rori, and Aoife, of Elliot, ME, Amy Desrochers and daughter Ninya Beckwith, of Hampton, Greg Desrochers, his wife Jessica and their children Maizy and Cooper of Seabrook, and Meagan Richardson, husband Jason and their son Parker of Hebron, ME. He is predeceased by nine sisters and one brother.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Sacred Heart Church, 265 S Main St., Manchester, NH 03102. Committal prayers followed in St. Augustin Cemetery where military honors were accorded. Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, Manchester, assisted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY, 10016 or to Monastery of the Precious Blood, 700 Bridge St., Manchester, NH 03104.
