SHREWSBURY-Doris M. McGuiness, 81, of 36 N. Quinsigamond Avenue, died Thursday, September 2nd in UMass Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She leaves 2 brothers, William J. McGuiness of Worcester and Charles E. McGuiness of Spencer, a sister, Florence A. Carlson of Worcester, a foster brother, William H. Murphy McGuiness of Charlton, a foster sister, Nora D. Elliott of Worcester, several nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces. 3 brothers, Howard J., Robert F. and Richard R. McGuiness predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of William A. and Florence A. (Lane) McGuiness. Ms. McGuiness was employed by Telechron Company and retired from American Optical in Southbridge. She was also a Tupperware manager for many years. She was past president of Grafton Hill unit of the American Legion Auxiliary and a past District Director of the Worcester County Council of the American Legion Auxiliary.
The funeral is Wednesday, September 8th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 the morning of the funeral. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Restoration Fund of Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01603.
