Lewis W. Davison, Sr., 98

Dateline: Walpole, MA

Lewis W. Davison, Sr., age 98 of Walpole, formerly of Mansfield, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Friday, August 9, 2013. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Doris (Whitehead) Davison.
Born in Putnam, CT on June 3, 1915, he was a son of the late Ruby (Paine) Davison and Arthur Clinton Davison. He moved to Foxboro in 1929, to Mansfield in 1930 and Walpole in 1969.
He was a graduate of Mansfield High School Class of 1932 and prior to retiring, was employed in various positions by the former Bay State Tap and Die Company / Cleveland Twist Drill in Mansfield for over 43 years
Mr. Davison was a former member of the Mansfield School Committee for 13 years, he was also a Selectman in Mansfield for 3 years.
A member of the Mansfield American Legion for over 67 years, Mr. Davison was an 80 year member of the Mansfield Congregational Church, and a former member of the Foxboro Country Club. He served in the United States Navy Submarine Service during World War II.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Lewis W. Davison, Jr. of Mansfield and Virginia Diane Rasar of Anchorage, Alaska. He was the grandfather of Kristen Lee Sharpe of North Attleboro, Jennifer Paine Dowd of Atlanta, Georgia and Mary Katherine Eastwood of Mansfield. He was the great grandfather of Jordan Sharpe, Stephen Sharpe and Emmaline Dowd. He is also survived by his stepchildren Gail Matson Ferreira of Berkley and Lawrence Matson of Brockton, as well as his God Son John Schrom of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and extended family members. Mr. Davison was pre-deceased by his former wife, Virginia Rollins Matson and his brother, Clinton Davison, a member of the United States Air Force whose plane was shot down over France during WWII.
As requested by the deceased there will be no funeral or memorial services planned. Visiting hours have also been omitted.
