Obituary

Doris A. Darnell, of Melrose, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away August 7, 2013, following a brief illness.
She was born in Concordia, Kansas, to the late Sydney and Pauline Aldrich, and grew up along with her siblings: Lawrence (Red) Aldrich of Nebraska, Richard Aldrich of Oregon, the late Corky Aldrich, and her late sister Alice Bearshield.
She married (the late LeRoy A. Darnell) in 1958, and became a career-military wife and mother. She spent her life devoted to caring for her family, friends, and home.
Doris is fondly remembered for her love of the Lord and incredibly strong faith, as well as her coveted skills in the kitchen, and passion for politics (not to mention, talk radio).
She will be missed by her loving children: Teah Darnell, Todg A. Darnell of Idaho, Taci R. Darnell of Melrose, Tanj L. Gunaratnam of Stoneham, and Jessica A. Darnell of Tulsa, OK. Other survivors include seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, LeRoy A. Darnell II.
ARRANGEMENTS: Many family and friends attended her funeral service celebrated on Monday, August 12, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., in the New Hope Assembly Church, 9 Assembly Drive, Saugus. Burial was held in the Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Calling hours were held on Friday, August 9, 2013, from 4-8 p.m., in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Massachusetts.
