Obituary

Jacob Russell Frazier, 93, of Ty Ty died Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2013, at Salem Baptist Church. Rev. Andy Ring will officiate with burial to follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Nephews, Charles H. Frazier, Van M. Frazier, Leland R. Frazier Sr., Royce D. Frazier, Leland R. Frazier Jr., Warren D. Stanford and Aubrey P. White will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Salem Baptist Church and Lonnie Canady, Gene Green and Greg Davis. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Frazier was born on December 31, 1919 in Worth County and was married to Helen Rose Ford Frazier for 67 years, who died in 2011. He was the son of Eddie J. Frazier and Betty Conger Frazier, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Leland Frazier and Avery Jaye Frazier Sr.; and five sisters, Myrtice Kicklighter, Ethel White, Ava Patterson, Betty Ruth Stanford, and Wynell Walters.

Mr. Frazier was a farmer in Ty Ty, past deacon and Sunday School Superintendent and superintendent of the Training Union at Salem Baptist Church. He served in World War II with the United States Army. In 1970, he was awarded the Tift County Man of the Year in Soil and Water Conservation.

Mr. Frazier is survived by his daughter, Rosemary F. Maulden and son-in-law Ron Maulden of Brunswick; a grandson, Russell Maulden of Brunswick; and one sister, Thelma Grace Lawhorne of Ty Ty.
