Roger Howard Williams, 65, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family in the Kaplan Family Hospice House on August 6, 2013.
Born on June 5, 1948 in Danvers, he was the son of the late Howard and Evelyn (Saulnier) Williams. He was resided and educated in Danvers and graduated from Danvers High School in 1967. Roger served his country with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He served three tours aboard the USS Hancock from 1968-1972 and was honorably discharged. Roger had retired from Varian Semiconductor in Gloucester and had been previously employed by Parker Brothers and Sylvania for many years. Roger was an avid builder and inventor. He also enjoyed vacationing to Maine and Cape Cod.
He is survived by his companion of 23 years, Charlene L .Fitzgerald of Manchester-by-the-Sea, a daughter, Amy A. Thompson and her husband Bill of Peabody, a son Andrew R. Williams and his fiancée Michelle Kloack of Beverly, a brother Donald S. Williams and his wife Gloria of Rochester, NH and a sister Mildred Frost and her husband Al of Peabody. He was predeceased by his wife Ann (Rubchinuk) Williams.
His Graveside Funeral will be celebrated at 11AM on Monday, August 12, 2013 in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Pine St., Manchester-by-the-Sea. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers, MA, 01923. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Roger’s name to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923.
