Methuen, Ma – Joan S. (LaBrecque) Rodgers, 66, died Monday July 22, 2013 at the Holy Family Hospital.
Joan was born in Biddeford, Maine on March 1, 1947, the daughter of the late Paul and Pauline (Martel) LaBrecque. She graduated from Lawrence High School and worked a career in telecommunications. In her free time she loved spending time on the Maine coast, long walks on the beach, swimming in the ocean, listening to all kinds of music, cooking up a storm, and spending every moment possible with her family that meant the world to her.
Joan will be deeply missed by her two sons, Joel K. Rodgers and his wife Caterina, and Christopher B. Rodgers and his wife Lora, and her granddaughter Samantha Rodgers…all of Malibu, CA; her sister Jacqueline Silveira of Methuen; her nephew, Joshua Silveira of Hampton NH; her aunt and godmother Simone Larose and cousin Bernard LaRose of Biddeford ME; and her life partner of 33 years Edwin J. Cundell of Methuen.
At Joan’s request, all services will be private. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at the Cancer Management Center at the Holy Family Hospital for their loving care of Joan over the last year. It was a year that she acknowledged as a gift and a year that allowed her to take advantage of the beauty of life, and to spend quality time with her family.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the KENNETH H. POLLARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested, in Joan’s honor, memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
