Lillian E. Owings, 72, of Derry, NH, died Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at her home. Mrs. Owings was born in Cambridge, MA on June 16, 1932, a daughter of the late Albert and Julia (Sheehan) Mitchell. She was a resident of Derry for the past 28 years, formerly living in Somerville, MA. She graduated from Cambridge High and Latin, Cambridge, MA. She was a dedicated wife and mother and a fantastic cook. She had lived in Saudi Arabia and had traveled extensively through the Middle East and Europe. She was an avid Red Sox fan.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Edmond L. Owings Jr. of Derry, four daughters, Sandra Decease and her husband Robert of Salem, NH, Janet Owings of Derry, Charleen Scartella and her husband Norman of Arundal, ME, Cynthia Owings of Derry, one son, Craig Owings and his wife Tami of Yorba Linda, CA, twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one brother, John Mitchell of MA, one sister, Alice Kirkland of CA, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son Edmond L. Owings III, three brothers, Joseph Mitchell, Albert Mitchell and Robert Mitchell, and two sisters, Mary Seaboyer and Helen Russell.
There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 4th at 11:00am in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Hampstead Rd., East Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Derry-Salem Home Health and Hospice, 15R East Broadway, Derry, NH 03038.
