D. Jim Heater

D. Jim Heater, 90, of Anderson quietly passed away on August 4, 2012 at his home with his loving wife of 35 years and other family members by his bedside.
Jim was born on January 28, 1923 in Elwood, the son of Frank and Myrtle (McCord) Heater. He retired in 1980 after 33 years of service from the Delco Remy General Motors Division. After retiring he went to school to be a boat mechanic and worked for Aqua Marine of Anderson for more than 25 years, retiring at the age of 79. He had also worked as a lawn mower and small engine mechanic at a sporting goods shop in Edgewood and had also worked as a security guard for a local pharmacy.
Jim served his country from December 1943 until April of 1946 in the US Army and received and honorable discharge. He was a former member of the Madison County Shrine Club and he was an avid Colts and NASCAR Fan.
Jim leaves behind to cherish his loving memory his wife of 35 years, Jackie (Burton) Heater whom he married on Jan. 20, 1979, Six children: Kim Peeples (husband Denny), William "Darrell" Andrews, Jon Andrews Sr., Lisa Andrews, Kathrine "Mikki" Andrews (husband John) and Emilli at home, and 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He also had 3 dogs which he dearly loved, Annie, Gizmo, and Boy.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Myrtle Heater, a son, Shaun Andrews, his twin brother, Omer Heater, brother, Frank Heater and brother, Leon Heater, and two sisters, Opal Davis and Dorothy Sanders, and two beloved pets, Parti and Shadow.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Grover Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 2-8 PM at the funeral home.
