Jane “Granny Jane” Weldon, 88, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, August 1, 2013, at Phoebe Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Saturday, August 3, 2013, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Donald Whitman officiating.
Ms. Weldon was born October 31, 1924, in Fitzgerald to the late Tattnell and Annie Gibbs Lasseter. She lived in the community all of her life. She was a former draw-in hand at the Cotton Mill in Fitzgerald and was a former trimmer for Irwin Manufacturing and Custom Sports Wear. She loved to garden, grow flowers, spend time with her family and enjoyed listening to the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane play football on the radio on Friday nights. She was a member of the former Callie Garbutt Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son: Bubba and Melissa Weldon of Abbeville; daughter: Diane Weldon Lynn of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Ricky Lynn and Leah Weldon; niece: Linda Sims of Fitzgerald; great-nephews: Joey and Tracy St. John and Jimmy St. John and a great-great niece: Summit St. John. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
