…Tewksbury School Secretary; 85
TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Barbara M. (Simpson) Lambert, age 85, a well known resident of Tewksbury, died peacefully, Wednesday, July 31, at Lowell General Hospital, following a courageous three month battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife for 49 years of Wilfred A. Lambert, who preceded her death on December 17, 2011.
Barbara was born in Wakefield, June 26, 1928, the daughter of the late Albert and Annie (Surette) Simpson. She was raised in Wakefield, and upon her marriage to “Will,” moved to Tewksbury.
She was an active communicant of St. William’s Church, and was a member of the St. William’s Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. She was also an active volunteer at the Tewksbury Food Pantry.
Prior to retirement, she worked at several different schools, and the Superintendent’s Office, for the Tewksbury Public School System.
She is survived by four children, Thomas R. Lambert of Lowell, Eileen J. Leger and her husband Claude of Nashua, NH, Sandra M. Nuttall and her husband James of Hudson, NH, Nancy Covell and her husband Michael of Ashland, MA; seven grandchildren, Danielle M. and Lisa M. Leger both of Nashua, Jessica A., and Stacie L. Nuttall both of Hudson, Alexander M., Chloe A., and Blake M. Covell all of Ashland; a brother, Albert Simpson and his wife Margaret of Cape Cod; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours Sunday, August 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, August 5, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Tewksbury Food Pantry, 999 Whipple Road, Tewksbury, MA 01876 will be appreciated.
