William F. Henry, 60, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Monday, July 29, 2013, in a work-related accident in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, August 1, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Dr. Mike Ruffin and the Rev. Dr. Bo Prosser officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until the funeral hour at the church on Thursday.
Mr. Henry was born September 3, 1952, in Metter, Georgia, to the late Frank E. and Dessie Richardson Henry. He grew up in Mt. Vernon and was a 1970 graduate of Montgomery County High School. Mr. Henry attended Southern Polytechnical Institute, Georgia Southern, and the University of Georgia. He earned his Bachelors degree in Accounting from Georgia State College in Milledgeville and was a charter member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He moved to Fitzgerald in 1980 and worked as mill manager for Tolleson Lumber Company. He was currently employed as the kiln supervisor for Gilman Building Products. Mr. Henry was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and the Grace Seekers Sunday school class. He was a Deacon, a former RAs leader, a member of various committees, and helped to rewrite the church by-laws several years ago. Mr. Henry loved children and enjoyed woodworking, having made several beautiful pieces of furniture for his home. An avid outdoorsman, he showed his Christian heart by assisting his friends and neighbors, as well as strangers, with yard work and various errands, often times without the recipient knowing.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years: Diane Smith Henry of Fitzgerald; one daughter: Kelly Henry of Statesboro; a sister and brother-in-law: Louise & Bobby Moxley of Soperton; his companion Labrador: Jamie; as well as many other family members, co-workers and friends.
