SALEM, NH – Dorothy H. (Cool) “Gorton” Gallant, 87 of Salem, NH passed away on Monday July 29, 2013 at her home with her family by her side.
Born in New York and educated in Lawrence, MA, she was the daughter of Charles and Della (McMahon) Cool. She attended St. Augustine’s grammar School and was a graduate of Lawrence High School with the Class of 1942.
For 22 years she was employed with Oxford Paper Company in Lawrence and for 15 years she was an inspector with Raytheon in Andover, retiring in 1988. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Tormey of Salem, NH; two sons, Joseph R. Gorton, Jr. and wife Carol of Londonderry, NH and James B. Gorton and his wife Frances of Salem, NH
One surviving sister Irene Reilly of Florida.
Nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours for family and friends will be Thursday from 4:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9:00a.m. in St. Monica’s Church in Methuen, MA with burial to follow in the Elmwood Cemetery also in Methuen.
