Larry G. Hamby, 66, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Hamby was born March 15, 1947 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late William M. Hamby and the late Princie Pugh Hamby Woods. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a superintendent for Acousti Engineering in Tampa, Florida. He moved to Fitzgerald four years ago from Dade City, Florida. He enjoyed reading books, fishing, and camping.
He is survived by his wife: Marietta Hamby of Fitzgerald; two sons: Tim & Esther Hamby of Tampa, Florida and Joshua Hamby of Fitzgerald; two step-daughters: Jennifer Hutchinson of Orlando, Florida and Melissa Kay & Robert Stuckert of Fitzgerald; seven grandchildren; siblings: Ronnie Hamby, Wanda Hamby, I.D. Hamby and Doug Hamby; a brother-in-law: Cecil Scarbro and a sister-in-law: Tina Stevens, both of Fitzgerald.
