CHARLTON: Katherine J. (Henzel) Richard, 85, of Gould Road, formerly of East Brookfield died Wednesday, July 24 in her home after an illness.
Her husband, Paul H. Richard, Sr. died in 1992. She leaves two sons Paul H. Richard, Jr. and his wife Norma with whom she lived and Edward L. Richard, six grandchildren Kristie Anderson and her husband Jody of Oxford, Keith Richard of Oxford, Amanda Strickland and her husband Greg of Ellenborough, N.C., Nathaniel Richard and his wife Alisha of San Antonio, TX, Adam Richard of Charlton and Meaghan Richard of Charlton, seven great-grandchildren Shane, Kayla, Nathaniel, Noah, Mea, Zack and Kyleigh, a brother Joseph Henzel of Nevada, five sisters Elizabeth Martin of Missouri, Maggie Jameson of Washington, Eva Wilson of California, Helen Clay of Oregon and Dorothy Doebler of Oregon and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by four brothers Franklin, Theodore, Peter and Vernon Henzel.
Mrs. Richard was born in New England, North Dakota, daughter of Lorenz and Elizabet (Wagner) Henzel. She grew up in Walla Walla, Washington before settling in Massachusetts. She was a manager in the cosmetics department at the former Fair Department Store in Spencer before retiring in 1990. She was active at the Charlton Senior Center.
The Funeral will be held Saturday, July 27 from J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at Noon in St. Joseph’s Church, 10 H. Putnam Road Ext., Charlton. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Cemetery, East Brookfield. Visitation will precede the Mass from 10:00-11:30 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Worcester County Food Bank, 474 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
